Welcome to the Institute for Global Korean Studies (IGKS) at Yonsei University.

Entrusted by the Ministry of Education with the task of globalizing the research and education of Korean studies, the IGKS is currently carrying out Fostering a New Wave of K-Academics, a program overseen by the Academy of Korean Studies. To further nurture global academic interest in Korean history and stimulate conversation across the humanities worldwide, the IGKS aims to develop an innovative integrated Korean history curriculum in response to increasing international demand. Our goal is to create systematic online lectures containing the latest academic achievements of Korean culture and history research that reflect a global historical perspective and provide them to learners all around the world. We at the IGKS are proud to be part of the efforts to establish a new center for the globalization of Korean studies and contribute to its expansion beyond local history into an international resource for studying and teaching the humanities.

As a hub for the research and education of Korean studies both in Korea and worldwide and as a warm home for the brilliant researchers hard at work at our institute, the IGKS at Yonsei University eagerly awaits your interest and hopes to serve all those hoping to engage in the exciting field of Korean Studies.
